9 Stacy Adams models we’ll analyze:

It’s been over 6 months now since we realized that we’ll have to put this guide together at some point because we’ve been getting questions from our readers.
It’s not a surprise because Stacy Adams shoes are unique. The brand falls at the sweet spot between price and quality – or at least, so they claim.
Today, we examine whether that’s true and which of their models are worth it.
Here’s how we approached the analysis:
- We talked to over 800 owners of Stacy Adams and gathered data about their satisfaction
- We looked at data available online and analyzed it
- We talked to our expert and consultant, Nolan Trelawney, about all the quality aspects
The bottom line: If you’re considering Stacy Adams, this review should give you all the answers.
Stacy Adams shoes review – our top picks
Dickinson Cap-toe
Who will choose it: People chasing for a classic look at a low price. Unless you are a professional in the industry, it’s pretty much impossible to tell these shoes from similar models that cost much more.
About the Dickinson
A classic look that stands tall when compared to similar from much bigger brands. The leather upper of the shoe is all leather.
The leather is soft and feels well crafted in Stacy Adams shoes
As I’m sure you’ll know, there are shoes that you can tell will be comfortable by just holding them in your hand.
We like the minimal design and the one-piece top (oxford cap-toe). It gives these Stacy Adams a timeless look. The perforations on the trim and the slight burnish give them a little extra oomph.
A caveat about the insole It’s memory foam and probably the most comfortable Stacy Adams we ever held in our hands. There is a question, though, whether it will stand the test of time or you might need a new insole in two years or so.
We are mentioning this because that time frame is approximately where we see changes happening in shoes of this type if you’re using them as your daily shoes and wearing them for over 8 hours a day.
It’s not a big deal and in no way a deal-breaker, just something that merits mentioning.
On the other hand, there is nothing as comfortable as memory foam.
The outsole The slightly lighter shade of the outsole is probably what gives this pair that touch of elegance and an expensive look. It feels sturdy and durable.

Review of Stacy Adams Wingtip Dunbar shoes
Our rating: 90/100
Expert consultant rating: 90/100
User satisfaction: 91/100
Who will choose it: People looking to remain classy while adding a bit of pizzazz. We love the looks of this shoe. The two-color combos are our favorite. There’s nothing like it in this price range.
Pretty similar to our favorite above, the Wingtip Dunbar is a versatile shoe. It does have a bit more flair and perhaps less of a classic look, especially in some of the available color combos.
There’s no significant difference in terms of the materials – the staples are there: The leather upper, the comfy insole, and the sturdy yet well-finished outsole.
With a final rating of slightly over 90 out of 100, this is definitely a winner and not just compared to the brand’s palette. It’s one of our top picks in that price range overall.
Available colors: black, black and white, cobalt/navy, tan, brown, and our favorite tan, brown, and cognac.
The wingtip Oxford dress shoes are one the most well-known models. These Stacy Adams are all-leather (even the sole), features a nice contrasting outsole that I love, and most importantly, seem to be one of the most comfortable models in its price range.
Style and colors
The classic style, perforated trims, and colors of the leather upper work well with each other. The fit is slid and holds to size – whatever you usually wear, order the same number. If you are between sizes, you should round up to the bigger number.
They are available in three colors, including indigo, blue, and cognac.
Comfort
When it comes to comfort, what does the job is the memory foam cushion. You can’t expect dress shoes to be comfortable on their own, it’s all in the right insole. In my opinion, they got it just right here.
Memory foam as a material for insoles is not the most durable, but these are not your everyday shoes. For a leather shoe, it does the job really well.
This pair of Stacy Adams is stylish, well-made, and a real bargain. I recommend these if you’re looking for solid shoes that won’t break the bank.

Dinsmore Plain Toe Monk Strap Slip-On Stacy Adams
Another pair of highly-rated Stacy Adams, the Dinsmore features a simple yet stylish monk-strap and a plain toe.
If you ask me, these are probably in the top 3 loafers in this price range.
The simple design allows them to go well with any special occasion outfit and still be dressed down to a day shoe. In other words, if you choose your outfit right, they can even look great as a casual pair for work / professional outfits.
Material and comfort
Similar to most models we’re looking at here, the shoes are made of leather, top-to-bottom. The heel is low stacked with nice detailing from the leather colors.
The memory foam cushion makes them as comfortable as a pair of dress shoes can be.
On the narrow side
For the price, these are almost perfect. One caveat that I’d like to add here is that if you have wider feet, you might need to wear these in for a day or two because they are narrowing towards the top bit.
This means that if you are getting them for a wedding or another special occasion, wearing them around the house a day before might be smart.
Overall, a comfortable dress shoe and the perfect choice if you’re looking for value and not just a brand name.

Valet Velour Slip-on
These dress shoes are not for everybody. The design/style is a bit out there, and they take charisma to pull off.
With that said, if you do like the style, these are great. I’m not just saying that; I look at several sources talking about user satisfaction, and I’ve seen nothing but praise from owners, especially about the materials.
They feature a memory foam insole which makes them very comfortable.
The upper is made of soft velour with a stylish metal bit. I keep hearing about this pair because they do look better in person than in pictures.
Comfort, quality materials, value…it ticks all the boxes.

Raynor Oxford
Classic dress shoe, built to last but with a peg of added pizzazz through the details on the upper, is how I would describe this pair.
However, the one slight difference compared to similar models from the brand is the sole. It’s synthetic rather than leather. The one concern that we had here was the wearing in if you have feet on the wide size – because the design is a bit narrow and boxy.
From everything we found in reviews, this wasn’t a significant issue.

Regent Oxford Wingtips
This pair is my personal favorite from the brand.
One main reason for that – the versatility. It can be a great dress shoe, and it’s still casual enough to work great with jeans. The sole is rubber which makes them a better choice for everyday wear than the harder alternatives.
It also comes in a wider range of colors – while most Stacy Adams come in 3, the regent comes in 5: Black, cognac brown, cognac, pink /brown, and Ice.
Versatile and comfortable
If you’re looking for a dress shoe that won’t just take place in your cupboard between formal occasions, I highly recommend the Regent. My personal favorite color is Ice for a casual look – it looks stylish with light both light khakis and jeans.
On the other hand, the wingtip.
The footbed is removable and features a heel cup and arch support – one of the most comfortable dress shoes.

Moc Toe Bit, slip-on
Personally, i’m not a fan of the look of this pair. I don’t like textured upper bit.
With that said, I include them because, since we started gathering data and reviews, they kept popping up as one of the more popular models.
So, who am I to exclude them from this list based on my personal preference.
What owners liked most about them
Added traction on the heel makes them non-slip, which is a big plus for a dress shoe. This fact

Kordell Cap-Toe men’s shoes by Stacy Adams
This a classic look of shoes for men from the brand. It has a lot in common with the garrison and the Dickinson cognac; in fact, most of the wingtips we went over.
They look great; they’re stylish, and, at that price point, the value is there. We actually bought two pairs of these and sent them out to be tested over a one-year period. Our testers had nothing but praise for the shoe.
Design and shape-wise, it’s similar to the Stacy Adams Prescott but simpler. Make-wise, they are just as sturdy as men’s boot.

Men’s Madison Cap Toe Boot
For those looking for a more rugged look, these men’s boots will be a great choice. The balance between casual and formal is just right. Above all, they are likely to last a lifetime.
For a wider foot, they come in W sizes and three colors. Just as versatile as any boot out there, they can be both a fashion statement and an everyday piece – there aren’t many boots we know of that you can say that about.

Stacy Adams shoes reviews – our process of gathering data and FAQs
You’ve seen the results and our top picks among the brand’s footwear and a detailed analysis of each Stacy Adams quality. We’ll take a moment here to look into how we got to those results and why you’d trust us.
Our Stacy Adams shoes review is the fruit of hundreds of hours of work and research.
- We talked to shoe experts and asked them about Stacy Adams
- We gathered thousands of reviews
- We plugged the data we got into our proprietary statistical model for rating footwear on a scale of 1 to 100
The result is the ratings you saw in the guide above.
During the process, some things kept coming up. We dedicate this section to answering some of the most commonly asked questions about the brand’s footwear.
Where are they made of?
Stacy Adams shoes are made abroad and imported. There’s nothing wrong with as far as we’re concerned.
We looked into the manufacturing practices and found no red lights. It’s why they can afford to go so low with the prices while maintaining the quality of the materials and craftsmanship. A US-made shoe of similar quality would typically cost two or three times more.
What types of shoes does Stacy Adams make?
There is a wide range of shoe styles in the Stacy Adams portfolio, most of them dress shoes for men. Some of the best known include Oxford style, slip-on boots, and men’s sandals. They also make dress boots to be worn for a more rugged feel.
They also make kids and toddler shoes.
Range of colors
Stacy Adams is not about minimalism; at least most of their models aren’t.
Their footwear typically comes in a range of colors – at least three and often five or more, including colors that you don’t typically see, like grey, indigo.
Built to last – the materials
Stacy Adams is well known for making all-leather shoes. The finish of the upper can be anything from classic style to snakeskin or alligator – again, most of their models are shoes for men.
Stacy Adams shoes can range from a slick design to modern velour and suede shoes. We’ve seen no significant difference when it comes to comfort because most of their shoes feature memory foam cushioning in the insole. It makes all the difference when it comes to comfort.
Their design feature some of the more daring finishes out there, like alligator shoes
What is the cap toe made of?
Most of the time, the cap toe is some durable composite that stands the test of time as far as we can tell.
To be clear, cap toe is more a name for a style than the type of shoe. What we’re talking about here is the material used in a typical Stacy Adams dress shoe.
The sole
Typically, the sole is also leather, which is a huge plus. The design, materials, fit, and feel of the sole are, in most models, well above the price range.
Fit
In most models we looked at, the fit is as expected. To be specific, this means that you should get the size you typically wear. If your foot is between sizes, go with the bigger.
Some of their models are long, which is typical for a shoe or boot, going for both a professional look and fashion piece.
Insole
Memory foam insoles cradle a foot like no other material.
It’s only natural to ask why isn’t everyone using them.
The answer would probably be that they are not durable enough for long-term daily use. But for dress shoes that you wear occasionally, they as close to perfect as it gets.
Wide vs. narrow feet
Most Stacy Adams models offer sizes for wider feet. If you typically don’t wear a wider size, I recommend going with the regular because natural leather gives in after a few hours of wearing.
Storied history
Most people we talked to don’t expect such a rich history behind the brand. That’s probably because they’re not expensive. For most brands with a storied history like this, high prices are typical.
Nevertheless, the Stacy Adams was found in Brockton, MA in 1875 by Henry Adams and William Stacy – by men for men.
Since then, they have been mentioned in pop songs and grew a following. The most notable is the story of Morris Day, front-man of a funk band “The Time,” and his vast collection of Stacy Adams shoes.
Updates to the Stacy Adams shoes review
As we typically do with all our guides. We bring in a new fashion, style, and footwear experts all the time, so we believe that each new update makes the reviews more reliable.
All aiming to give your feet a break, and do it in style. For this update, we bought and tested some of the shoes / boots, but not all. The goal for the next few months is to look more into men’s boots from the shoe company.
We keep up with any new developments on the market and update our reviews accordingly. What we typically see with footwear with fewer reviews is an attempt by the companies to skew the ratings in the marketplaces to their favor.
That’s not the case with Stacy Adams; they have been on the market for far too long for this type of shady practice to make sense. If anything were going on there, we would have noticed when gathering the stats for the analysis.
